Targeted attack: Fireman shot dead on way to home

KARACHI: A fire brigade official was shot dead near Old Sabzi Mandi within the limits of the PIB Colony police. Forty-five-year-old Ghulam Fareed, son of Abdul Aziz, was targeted when he was on his way to his house located in Fire Brigade Quarters in Landhi on his motorcycle. He was also affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. DSP Nasir Lodhi said that two unidentified men riding a motorcycle shot him multiple times and he died on the spot. He was the chief fire officer at the Landhi Fire Station. Lodhi added that he had also been associated with a local Urdu newspaper in the past. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and later handed over to the family. A case has yet to be registered.
