SARGODHA:

A walk and a seminar were organised by the Sargodha district administration on Friday in connection with Mother and Child Health Week.

Deputy District Officer Muhammad Imran Khan Niazi and Darya Khan THQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Muhammad Abdur Razzaq led the walk. A large number of lady health workers, nursing staff, paramedical staff and workers of the Health Department walked from the hospital to the TMA office.

Niazi said healthy mothers were essential for fostering a healthy society. He said raising awareness of maternal and neo-natal health issues was a civic responsibility.

He said the government had launched a drive to raise awareness on care for pregnant women. He said lady health workers would conduct door-to-door visits and advise women on health and nutrition. Niazi said the health workers would also listen to their problems and complaints.

Niazi said feedback from the week-long drive would help the government devise a comprehensive community-based programme for maternal and neo-natal health.
