KARACHI: Pakistan were beaten comprehensively by seven wickets in the one-off Twenty against Bangladesh in Mirpur on Friday.

Pakistan T20 captain Shahid Afridi won the toss and opted to bat first hoping to score 160+ on a pitch he deemed was better than the ODI one.

Debutante Mukhtar Ahmed and Ahmed Shehzad opened the batting for Pakistan but another debutante left-armer Mustafizur Rahman was there to trouble Pakistani openers early on.

They somehow managed to reach the 50-run mark and Shehzad was caught brilliantly by Mashrafe Murtaza off Mustafizur on 17 runs off 31 balls after that.

All Pakistan batsmen lost their wickets regularly in the aftermath and none of them was able to stay on the crease long enough to score big.

Mukhtar Ahmed promised something with his muscular hitting but unfortunately he was stumped off Arafat Sunny top-scoring with 37 runs.

A 49-run fourth-wicket partnership between Muhammad Hafeez and Haris Sohail added some potential to the Pakistan total at the end of the first innings.

In their chase, Bangladesh were hampered a little in the start after Soumya Sarkar was ran out on a golden duck and Tamim Iqbal was caught in the slips on 14 runs as the hosts were 17-2 at one point of time.

Mushfiqur Rahim then walked in and rocked four boundaries for his 19 runs but was bowled by Wahab Riaz.

Shakib Al Hasan (57*) and Sabbir Rahman (51*) then held Bangladesh's reins and did not give Pakistan any chance to make a comeback bagging the first-ever T20 victory over the visitors.

Que | 9 years ago | Reply I agree with Afridi on the poor umpire decision and also the use of referral in T20 format! He was looking good in batting and there was a high chance he had sent the Bengali bowlers to the cleaners; one to all!!!
Truth | 9 years ago | Reply PCB should bring Misbah back. He should be again made captain of Pakistan Cricket Team.
