
The duo were expected to participate in the Rafi Peer International Film Festival scheduled from April 23 to April 25 in Lahore, in which Their films Chandni Bar, Page 3, Corporate, Manorama Six Feet Under and NH10 were going to be screened as part of a cultural exchange programme.
According to The Indian Express the authorities in Pakistan anticipated security issues after the release of Mumbai terror suspect Lakhvi, due to which it was not considered advisable to conduct an event with attendees from India.
The film festival was organized by thr Rafi-Peer Theatre Workshop (RPTW), which has been actively involved in the fields of dance, drama, music and puppetry, hosting 37 international festivals since 1992. The RPTW is a non-profit organization actively promoting culture and arts both in Pakistan and abroad for over thirty five years.
On Tuesday, theater management had posted an update regarding cancellation of the festival, citing "unforeseen reasons".
