LAHORE:

Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday reserved verdict on a petition challenging an Excise and Taxation Department’s notice for the recovery of Rs10 million property tax from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The judge had already stayed operation of the tax notice.

The petitioner’s counsel said that the Excise and Taxation Department had sent the board a notice to pay property tax for its office at Gaddafi Stadium.

He said that the PCB had acquired the property on lease and that property tax could not be charged on a leased property.

He said that the notice had been issued unlawfully. He requested the court to set aside the notice.
