The police said that they had only used two containers

LAHORE: Lahore High Court directed the Punjab Police inspector general on Wednesday to appoint a DIG-rank officer to hold an inquiry into a dispute of non-payment of rent of the containers used to block roads during protest demonstrations by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek last year. Rana Shahid Jamil filed a petition saying that he had supplied 30 containers to the police and had sent them a bill for Rs3.1 million. However, the police had not paid up so far. The police said that they had only used two containers owned by the petitioner and they had had paid for them. The petitioner’s counsel contested this reply and Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan directed the IGP to probe the matter in two weeks.
