FAISALABAD:

“There has been no electricity on either side of Narwala Road for two days. We will besiege the FESCO headquarters if power is not restored in 24 hours,” protesting residents of the area shouted on Tuesday.

Scores of residents and shopkeepers in the area blocked traffic on Narwala Road for several hours.  Power went out on Sunday following damage to an electricity pole on the road.

Athar Ali, a protesters, told media people that they had complained to the FESCO subdivision several times but no one from the office had visited the site to repair the pole. He said the entire locality was experiencing a blackout. There were several power loom units in the area that had remained shut due to the outage. “Hundreds of workers on daily-wage salaries have been unable to earn for their families for two days,” he said. Gulberg SHO Imran Manan arrived at the scene and told the protesters that their issue would be solved on priority.
