HBL outwit PAF in Challenge Cup

Register 1-0 win against PPFL’s bronze-medallists.

KARACHI: HBL stunned Pakistan Premier Football League bronze-medal winners PAF 1-0 in their opening match of the 2015 NBP National Challenge Cup at the Railways Stadium in Lahore on Friday.

Both teams played a goalless first-half, with Saeed scoring the winner for HBL in the 58th minute of their Group C match.

Meanwhile, Wapda also registered a 1-0 win against Pakistan Railways at the Model Town Football Ground. Wapda’s Waseem scored a late goal in the 81st minute to seal the win.

In a Group A match, PIA overcame HEC 2-1 at the Faisal Town Football Stadium, with PIA’s Jabbar scoring the opening goal of the match in the 40th minute to take a 1-0 lead at the interval.

Their key striker Shakir Lashari doubled the score in the 76th minute, whereas Muhammad Waseem scored the solitary goal for HEC in the 90th minute.

PIA are now leading Group A with two wins.
