Assault: Case registered against 12 cops
Officials said the case had been registered on the complaint of Anwar Ali
Jaranwala City police said on Sunday that a case had been registered against 12 police officials for allegedly throwing acid on a citizen and beating him. Officials said the case had been registered on the complaint of Anwar Ali, a resident of Shamspura area. Ali stated in his complaint that Jaranwala City SHO Rana Obaidur Rehman had forcibly entered his residence along with 11 other policemen and severely beaten him without any rhyme or reason. He said the suspects had also poured acid over his face. Ali said he had sustained sever injuries from the torture. Jaranwala City police said no arrests had been made on this account so far. Police Spokesperson Muhammad Ramazan told The Express Tribune that the charges were being investigated. He said the suspects would be immediately arrested if the accusations levelled against them were proven.
