Zain Rauf’s killing: Court extends physical remand of five

LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court on Saturday extended physical remand of five people, including a son of a former state minster for foreign affairs, over the killing a boy and injuring another.

Police produced Mustafa Kanju, son of former minster Siddique Kanju, his guards Ikramullah, Asif, Saad and Sadiq in the court and sought the extension. Police said they had recovered a Kalashnikov rifle from them from which the fatal shot was fired.

Earlier, the court had sent them on an eight-days physical remand. Counsel for Kanju asked the court to drop charges related to the Anti-Terrorism Act. Kanju said he had not killed the boy. He accused his rivals of implicating him in the case. The lawyer later said Zain Rauf was killed in a crossfire between Kanju’s guards and some assailants.
