Preserving history: Renovation of Harappa Museum ordered

Education and Archaeology Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said on Saturday the government was committed to renovating historical sites and tourist attractions.


He was speaking at a meeting on the renovation of Harappa Museum, Sahiwal.

He said nations were recognised by their heritage. “The government will provide all available resources to renovate historical sites.”

The minister ordered that steps be taken to improve the museum’s condition. He also said security should be tightened. He directed the Tourism Department Corporation of Punjab Managing Department Ahmer Malik to visit the museum and prepare a plan for its improvement. He said negligence would not be tolerated in this regard.

Khan directed the Tourism Department to set up an information desk at the museum and make a documentary film about it. Earlier, Harappa Museum Curator Muhammad Hassan briefed the meeting.

Archaeologist Prof Rafiq Mughal and Archaeology Department Director Salimul Haq also attended the meeting.
