KARACHI:

A key witness identified alleged target killer Ubaid Khursheed alias K2 before a judicial magistrate in a murder case on Saturday.

Ubaid, a Muttahida Qaumi Movement worker arrested during the March 11 raid at the party headquarters, was brought to a District East court for identification parade.

The investigation officer submitted to the court that Ubaid was an absconder in a targeted attack case on former Karachi jail superintendent Pir Shabir Jan Sarhandi, in which a passer-by, identified as Fahim Farooqi, was killed.

The witness, whose name has been kept confidential, identified the suspect thrice before the judge, as per the rules. The suspect was presented amid a dozen dummies before the witness in a different manner each time.

Ubaid has been remanded in as many as six cases of murder and possessing illicit weapons and explosives since his arrest. In most of the cases, witnesses have testified against him.
