KARACHI: The political temperature spiked up yet again in Karachi before the NA 246 by-election as Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) workers clashed amongst each other, reported Express News.

According to reports, clash erupted late on Friday when JI rally was passing from a nearby MQM election camp in the Sharifabad area of Karachi.

Situation got tensed after unidentified persons pelted the passing vehicles with stones when JI workers chanted slogans against MQM.

Several JI workers have been reportedly injured in the clash.

Accusing MQM for attacking their rally, JI leader Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman claimed that JI candidate from NA-246 Rashid Naseem was the target of the attack.

Talking to Express News, MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari criticising JI leadership for their choice of words alleged that JI wants to capitalise on this opportunity.

“MQM is ready to sit down with all the parties including JI and work out a policy of cooperation,” says the MQM leader.
