As many as 70,000 children will be enrolled in Dera Ghazi Khan under the government’s Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab education programme, said DCO Nadeemur Rehman on Wednesday.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the programme, the DCO said officials of the Education Department had been directed to hold regular lectures on the importance of education.
He said teachers should be recruited for primary schools where there were vacancies.
He said he would visit schools personally and conduct lectures.
The DCO said attendance of teachers at schools in tribal areas should be ensured. He said the government had been asked to revise recruitment criteria for teachers so that retired teachers could be hired for schools short of staff. He said the government had stressed on the need to supervise teachers to ensure effectiveness of the programme and an effective system had been devised in this regard.
