LAHORE:
The General Elections 2013 Inquiry Commission Ordinance 2015 was on Monday challenged before the Lahore High Court. Lawyers’ Foundation for Justice, the petitioner, submitted that the ordinance was in violation of the Article 225 of the Constitution under which an election dispute could be heard only by a tribunal appointed by the Election Commission of Pakistan. The petition stated that the proposal for establishment of a judicial commission under the new ordinance was also in violation of various judgments of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and requested the court that the ordinance should be struck down immediately.
