Fighting terrorism: ‘World acknowledges Pakistan’s peace efforts’

He said the country’s economy was improving

Pakistan has rendered great sacrifices for peace in the world, Acting Governor Rana Muhammad Iqbal said on Monday.


He was talking to a delegation of diplomats from 29 countries that met him at the Governor’s House.

“The international community acknowledges the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in the war against terrorism.” He said the world’s peace was linked with the stability of the region, including Pakistan.

Iqbal said diverse opinions and faiths must be respected for the sake of peace. He said the country’s economy was improving.

The delegation included diplomats from Afghanistan, Yemen, Brazil, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

Earlier, a five-member delegation, led by former Balochistan minister Naseer Ahmed Bacha Khan, met the acting governor.

Iqbal said Balochistan’s role was crucial for the national economy. He said the country would benefit from efficient utilisation of natural resources in Balochistan.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was taking keen interest in the progress of Balochistan.
