MULTAN: The Counter Terrorism Department foiled a terror bid and recovered a bomb from a water tank at Imam Bargah Ali Hussain Shaheed in Alipur on Saturday morning.

DSP Iqbal Chandia said police had detained three terrorists in various raids in Multan and Khanewal last week.

He said they had revealed that they had planted a 14 kilogramme bomb in a water cooler at the imam bargah.

He said they had planned to attack a Friday congregation. Chandia said Omar Baloch was arrested from Khangarh Doma. He said information gleaned from him had led to another raid at a house from where two remote control bombs, a seven-kilogramme bomb and other weapons were recovered. He said Baloch’s brothers Razzaq Muawia and Usman Riaz were also detained.
