Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday stayed recovery of Rs10 million property tax from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The court sought a reply from the Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department on the matter by May 9.
Through its legal adviser the board submitted that the department had sent it a notice to pay Rs10 million as property tax for its office at Gaddafi Stadium. The lawyer argued that the PCB had obtained the property on lease and that property tax could not be charged on a leased property. He requested the court to set aside the notice.
Justice Lodhi restrained the department from recovering the tax
