ISLAMABAD: In the light of a Supreme Court’s ruling, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) admin has decided to implement the one- dish limit at weddings and related ceremonies in the capital’s marriage halls. In 2006, the apex court directed the government to implement the Marriage Functions (Prohibition of Ostentatious and Wasteful Expenses) Ordinance 2000. ADC (East) Capt (retd) Abdus Sattar Esani said that a single gravy dish with rice and bread, and one sweet dish will be allowed.  The official said all assistant commissioners and magistrates would be assigned to monitor marriage halls to enforce the ban.  The ban on fireworks and unnecessary lighting will also be enforced, he said.  The ICT admin has invited owners of marriage halls for a meeting on Friday to explain the implementation of the law, said the official.
