Trades and skills: Skills’ assessment programme begins today

Programme would enable skilled people to obtain certifications after clearing a systematic assessment

Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said on Tuesday that the Recognition of Prior Learning Programme would commence at 26 institutes in five districts on Wednesday (today).


He was speaking at a meeting organised to initiate the programme’s registration process. Sheikh said the select institutes include seven for women and six for men in Lahore, one each for men and women in Gujrat, one for women and three for men in Sahiwal, two each for men and women in Faisalabad. He said the programme would enable skilled people to obtain certifications after clearing a systematic assessment. He said people in trades such as welding, plumbing, machine embroidery and tailoring could benefit from the programme.
