Peace committee leader shot dead in Tank

Two of his associates also injured in the attack carried by unidentified assailants

TANK: A peace committee leader was shot dead and two of his associates were injured in a firing incident in Tank, Express News reported.

Unidentified assailants opened fire at peace committee leader Sherpao Mehsud's vehicle.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital immediately.

Earlier last year, at least two members of a local peace committee were also killed in a blast in Tirah Valley.

The deceased belonged to Tawheed-ul-Islam (Zakha Khel Peace Lashkar) and were identified as Qalat Khan and Khabar Shah.

The volunteers were moving ahead to capture the vacated post of the banned Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) when the bomb exploded.
