The Home and Tribal Affairs Department of Balochistan has issued black warrants for five condemned prisoners who will be executed within a week in the central prison of Mach, a senior home department official told The Express Tribune on Monday.

“They will be executed within a week and the date will be fixed by the superintendent of Mach jail,” he added.

Death warrants were issued for Mir Hamza, Ali Gul, Meero, Zaman and Mohammed Ismail.

According to official sources, there are around 92 prisoners on death row in Mach prison. The mercy petitions of at least 13 prisoners are pending with President Mamnoon Hussain.

Saulat’s execution delayed

The execution of Saulat Mirza was further delayed on Monday for 30 days, a jail official told The Express Tribune.

“Mach jail received the orders regarding a delay of 30 days in executing Saulat Mirza,” superintendent Mach jail Ishaq Zehri confirmed.

The move came after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif requested President Mamnoon Hussain to halt the April 1 hanging of Mirza.
