Express April 23, 2010

LAHORE: Lahoris celebrated day two of the sufi music festival being held at Peeru's cafe, showcasing artists from Europe, Middle East and South Asia.

The festival aimed to highlight Sufi Islam’s rich diversity, with over 300 performers from all four provinces taking part in the festival.

The celebration, arranged by Rafi Peer Theatre, has been taking place in Lahore for the past eight years.

AZMAT KHAN | 13 years ago | Reply I HAVE MANY MANY GOOD WISHES FOR RAFI PEER THEATRE. SUFI MUSIC FESTIVAL SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED AND APPRECIATED. THEY ARE ALMOST PIONEERS IN REVIVAL OF HERITAGE OF PERFORMING ART.THEY NEED TO BE ENCOURAGED FINANCIALLY AND IN MANAGERIAL MATTERS ALSO TO CONTINUE THEIR WORK. SIMILARLY AJOKA THEATRE DESERVES ATTENTION. I HAD NEVER A CHANCE TO WATCH GREAT AGHA HASHAR IN ACTION.BUT I HAD SEEN BALI JATTI AND USTAD GAMAN PAWALI OF SARAIKI BELT AND THEIR THEATRES IN ACTION.WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE LEGACIES.
