Twenty-one candidates on Sunday submitted nomination papers for local bodies’ election in Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonment boards scheduled for April 25. Tuesday is the last day for filing of nomination papers.
Those who filed the papers for Rawalpindi Cantonment Board constituencies were Malik Azhar, Malik Karim, Mir Zaman, Muhammad Naiz, Rasheed Khan, Asim Zaman, Hummion Shahzad, Abdul Wahab, Tariq Mehmood and Jameel u Rehman.
The 11 candidates who filed their papers for the Chaklala Cantonment Board constituencies included Bilal Ahmed,Malik Muhammad Ali Awan, Muhammad Khalid, Babu Muhammad Idrees, Imran, Chaudary Khurram Shahzad, Malik Muhammad Naseem, Rizwan Majeed Butt, Muhammad Khalid, Khan Shfique and Muhammad Rasheed.
According to the election schedule, scrutiny of the candidates will be held on April 4-6 while appeals against rejection of nominations will be filed on April 6 while last date for decision on appeals by election tribunals has been set for April 9.
The candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by April 10 and the list of contesting candidates with allotted symbols will be made public on April. The returning officers will finally declare the results on April 28.
Earlier, ECP had displayed voter lists at 61 government schools in the cantonment areas to allow citizens to have their votes registered.
The Rawalpindi Cantonment has been bifurcated into two cantonments-Rawalpindi and Chaklala. Each cantonment has further been divided into 10 wards.
