LAHORE:
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved a Rs3 billion grant for Dolphin Force. Requesting anonymity, a senior police official told The Express Tribune that the CM approved the funds on Friday. “These funds will be used to induct 3,900 officers and pay their salaries, purchase 600 250cc motorbikes and to establish seven offices of the force in the city,” he said. He said the new officers would be inducted in the force in two phases. “A delegation of 26 police officials is leaving for Turkey on March 29. After completing their two-month training, they will return and train 1,200 officers,” he said. The squad is being established to deal with street crime. It has been modelled after the Turkish National Police’s Dolphin Force.
