Both sides of the road will be reserved for people departing the Ijtema and no one else will be allowed on to Raiwind Road after the congregation ends in the early evening, Chief Traffic Officer Syed Ahmed Mobeen said on Saturday. “If anyone has to go to Raiwind because of an emergency, they should get on to Ferozepur Road at Soay Aasil, travel to Liliani and then on to Raiwind,” he said.
He urged citizens to contract the traffic helpline at 042-1915 and listen to FM 88.8 for updates. The NHMP has also made arrangements for the Ijtema participants heading out of Lahore.
Syed Ibne Hussain, NHMP DIG, said that six extra vans and officers would be on patrolling duty during the Ijtema. “Two recovery vans and ambulances will remain on alert on N-5 Central to attend to any traffic blockade caused by a broken-down vehicle,” he said.
