Like Bhutto and Nawaz: Why can’t Altaf go to jail, says Khawaja Asif

He added that no one was above the law when it came to national security.

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Wednesday that if former prime ministers Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif could be arrested in the past, why can’t MQM chief Altaf Hussain be put behind bars. Asif’s statement came days after convicted target killer Saulat Mirza confessed in a video statement that he had killed KESC’s former MD on the MQM chief’s orders. “If Bhutto could be arrested and there could be a decision against him, which is still questionable; if Nawaz Sharif can stay in jail for 14 months … why not others?” said the defence minister while speaking in Express News show Kal Tak. He added that no one was above the law when it came to national security. Talking about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan, the defence minister said Imran wanted to become the country’s prime minister and failing to do so has been a grave psychological shock to him.

skakrullah | 9 years ago | Reply Altaf Hussain cannot be arrested because we have a weak and unprincipled central government ---a government which is ever ready to follow the path of least resistance , is ruled by passion for self-aggrandizement , and is least bothered to govern the country properly .
