SIALKOT: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday that most of his time is spent on working against terrorism and overcoming power crisis in the country, Express News reported.

“I spend 90 percent of my time in solving these issues and I am working hard. As a result, I have less time to work for the development of the country,” he said.

Addressing the Workers Convention in Sialkot, the prime minister said these issues were inherited from the previous regime.

Earlier today, PM Nawaz claimed that Pakistan did not face these challenges during his previous regime spanning from 1997-1999.

He was speaking at a ceremony of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sialkot.

PM Nawaz said the government of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) failed to take any measures in these areas of national interest.

"We are trying to overcome energy crisis",  he said. "The problem will be solved in the next two to three years".

PM Nawaz said that a country that doesn't even have gas and electricity, cannot prosper.

While discussing about projects initiated in this regard, the prime minister said Pakistan will be able to generate 3700 MW by end of 2017.

"We will also be reducing power tariff," he added.

Speaking about Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the prime minister lauded efforts of army officials for successfully fighting against terrorists.

"We have busted militant hideouts and their sanctuaries," PM Nawaz added.

He also clarified that Karachi operation is not against any political party but is only against criminals.

With reference to Sialkot, PM Nawaz said the city has an important role to play in improving the economy of Pakistan.

"It has always been the hub of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N).

PM Nawaz also announced that the construction of Sialkot-Lahore will also be completed in the next three years.

Minister for Defence and Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif was also present at the event.
