LAHORE: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and its chief Altaf Husain are playing a negative role in Karachi, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Lahore president Abdul Aleem Khan said on Thursday.

“Action should be taken across the board in order to bring peace to Karachi,” he told reporters at the PTI’s Lahore office.

Khan said that PTI’s popularity was increasing in Karachi as well as other parts of Sindh. He said that PTI would form a government in Sindh after the next general elections.

Accusing the MQM of being involved in land grab, he said that the people of Karachi were not happy with the situation. “People of Karachi want to be rid of elements who stole their mandate in the name of ethnicity,” he said.

Khan said the situation had forced MQM workers to reveal the truth about their leadership.

He said that the PTI had offered the people a new vision under the leadership of Imran Khan. “The PTI is trying to ensure that the younger generation is taken on board on important issues.

The coming elections will play an important role in terms of bringing in an honest and capable leadership to steer the country in the right direction,” he said. “The PTI has completed its preparations for local elections. The party is determined to give a tough time to the ruling party. We will make a clean sweep,” he said.
