Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel administered the oath to justices Muhammad Daud Khan and Syed Afsar Shah. The total number of judges at the PHC is now 19.
The oath-taking ceremony was held in Courtroom-I and attended by PHC judges, senior lawyers, the deputy attorney general, additional advocate generals as well as PHC Bar Association President Muhammad Isa Khan and General Secretary Muhammad Ayaz Khan.
Registrar Muhammad Ayub Khan read the presidential notification issued under Article 193 of the Constitution. The confirmed judges swore to perform their duties with honesty and in accordance with the Constitution and law. They also vowed to abide by the Supreme Judicial Council of Pakistan’s code of conduct and protect the Constitution.
Justice Muhammad Daud Khan was born on August 1954 in DI Khan and passed his FSc examination from Government Science College in 1972. He went on to complete his LLB from DI Khan’s Gomal University in 1981.
Justice Khan started practicing in lower courts with the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council in 1981 and later at the Supreme Court in 2008. He has also completed a Shariah course from International Islamic University Islamabad in 1999 and was appointed as an additional judge of the PHC on March 26, 2013.
Meanwhile, Justice Syed Afsar Shah was born on September 1, 1957 and worked as member of the PHC inspection team for a year and as an accountability court judge for five years. He also served at various posts such as civil judge in Mardan, senior civil judge in Abbottabad, additional district and sessions judge in Charsadda and other districts.
