DI KHAN: Police arrested three butchers on charges of selling meat of sick and dead animals on Thursday.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, a police official said surprise raids were conducted as part of an operation in different markets situated in the jurisdiction of DI Khan city police.

Abdul Wahid was arrested from Mohallah Mujahid Nagar with 25 kilogrammes of unhygienic meat in possession, Nasir from Mohallah Gusayan Wala with 15 kilogrammes and Usman from Mohallah Chaman Chowk with 17 kilogrammes.

The official said animals were being slaughtered at unwarranted slaughterhouses and that over 80 kilogrammes of unhealthy meat was recovered during the crackdown.

Separate cases were registered against the detainees and further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials arrested two employees of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd, Sarai Nawrang Branch, Lakki Marwat.

Speaking to the media in DI Khan, FIA Deputy Director Ghulam Nabi Khan said the employees, identified as mobile credit officer Sajid and cashier Zari Gul, were involved in embezzlement of millions of rupees. Khan said a case has been registered by FIA DI Khan and the physical remand of the accused has been obtained, adding further interrogation is under way. The deputy director said investigation is likely to unearth the involvement of more bank officials who will soon be nabbed.

Dilip | 9 years ago | Reply The food is not considered halaal. Why? Is it purely for the sake of money and sell within the community that you live in ? These people should be charged in the Sharia courts.
