Rangers raid: Man sentenced in Wali Babar case found

The Rangers claimed that they had carried out a raid at Nine Zero and surrounding areas.

A man wanted for and sentenced to death in the Wali Babar murder case, Faisal Mehmood alias Faisal Mota, was taken into custody by the Rangers during a raid at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement's headquarters on Monday morning.


The Rangers claimed that they had carried out a raid at Nine Zero and surrounding areas, including the Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall, on information of presence of criminals.

On March 1, 2014, Faisal Mota and Kamran alias Zeeshan were sentenced to death in the Wali Babar murder case by an anti-terrorism court in Kandhkot. Four other co-accused identified as Faisal Mehmood alias Nafsiyati, Naveed alias Polka, Muhammad Ali Rizvi and Shahrukh alias Mani were sentenced to life in prison. One of the accused identified as Shakeel was set free due to lack of evidence. Wali Khan Babar, a Geo Tv reporter, was shot dead in Liaqatabad on January 13, 2011.
