KARACHI: A fire broke out at the top floor of the Hanifa Sulaiman Dawood Oncology Centre of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) early on Tuesday morning but it did not cause any damage.

An air-conditioner fixed on the floor caught fire due to a technical fault.

The staff with the help of fire department officials overcame it within a few minutes, said the SIUT spokesperson, Liaquat Ali.

There are extinguishers available and the staff is prepared to overcome such a situation, he added. "All patients' services were safe and the SIUT is functioning normally."
