LAHORE: Home Minister Shuja Khanzada said on Monday a Special Protection Unit, headed by a DIG, has been providing security to Chinese working on various projects in the province. “Nearly 3,000 Chinese are working on various projects. As many as 7,000 police, Rangers and military guards are providing them security,” the minister told Chinese Consul General Yu Boren. Yu said he was satisfied with steps that the provincial government had taken for the protection of Chinese nationals. He said that during the Chinese president’s visit to Pakistan, various Chinese companies would sign agreements to invest in Pakistan. “Pakistan-China Economic Corridor will help strengthen Pakistan’s economy. This will create many job opportunities.” Yu said. He said Chinese companies would invest $45 billion in Pakistan. He said Beijing supported Islamabad in the country’s war against terrorism.
