ISLAMABAD: A campaign has been launched by the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) and Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to check smoke-emitting vehicles in the city. Smoke sensors and decibel meters are being used to check the vehicles, while lights, side mirrors and indicators of motorcyclists are also being checked, said an ITP official. Action is being taken against vehicles without fitness certificates, he added. ITP is working with EPA to check environmental pollution, said the ITP SSP, adding that the purpose of the campaign was not to take punitive measures against anyone but to ensure road safety and discipline by making citizens more law abiding.
