Second batch of APS survivors leave on 'healing trip' to China

The ten day visit is part of the programme to rehabilitate APS students affected by the Taliban attack

RAWALPINDI: The second batch of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar left for China on Thursday on an educational and recreational tour.

According to the a statement issued by the Inter Service public Relations (ISPR), the students will spend ten days in China as part of a programme to rehabilitate them following the Taliban attack in December last year. Around 150 people, mostly students, were killed in the attack.

During the visit, the students, accompanied by their parents and teachers, would visit major Chinese cities including Beijing, Shenzhen, Gongzhou and Hong Kong and would also visit historical sites.

Before their departure on Thursday, the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad arranged a special reception for the APS students, their parents and teachers. The delegation was accorded a warm welcome at the reception.

While speaking at the occasion, Naval and Military attaché at Chinese Embassy Major General Qi Huajun said that Pakistan and China are time tested friends and the people in China were deeply aggrieved after the APS terrorist attack and loss of innocent lives.

The Chinese attaché said that through this trip, the Chinese people want to express their resolve that they will always stand with their Pakistani brethren in thick and thin.

The first batch of APS student who visited China, returned to Peshawar last week.
