Naval college attack: Convict’s appeal adjourned

LAHORE: A division bench of Lahore High Court on Thursday adjourned hearing on the appeal of a man convicted of attacking Naval War College till March 10.  After hearing the counsel for the convict and a deputy prosecutor general, the bench asked them to make final arguments at the next hearing. The bench was hearing an appeal by Nadeem Hussain, convicted of facilitating the suicide attack on Naval War College Lahore on March 4, 2008, killing four Navy employees and injuring 21 others. Hussain said the court had sentenced him to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of facilitating the suicide attackers. He said proof of his involvement was lacking. He asked the court to acquit him. Deputy Prosecutor General Khurram Khan said prosecution had presented solid proof against Hussain which had led to his conviction. He said Hussain had helped the attackers reach the college. He said his appeal should be dismissed. The bench adjourned hearing till March 10.
