Sanwari Samitra’s husband Narain Chand told The Express Tribune his wife, a mother of three, went missing after she went to pay the school fees for her children who study in a school in Kotla Mohsin Khan. He added every initial effort to trace her proved futile.
"But we were finally able to locate her and discovered that she had not been kidnapped as we had feared. Instead, her brother had taken her to Sukkur in Sindh." Chand added she has now returned home safely.
Suspects arrested
Around 20 suspects and six Afghan refugees allegedly residing in Peshawar district without documentation were arrested during a search operation in the jurisdiction of Bhanamari police station.
Police said the operation was conducted in Landi Arbab, Achar and Bahadur Kalay village. They claim to have recovered 51 pistols, 10 repeaters and 1,200 cartridges during the operation. FIRs were registered against the accused.
Meanwhile, Afghan nationals might find it easier to register themselves as the registration section for foreigners has been shifted to Gulbahar police station.
A police officer told The Express Tribune on Thursday the section was previously located inside the main office of the Special Branch in Cantonment and there were accessibility problems for people wishing to visit it. In the past, foreign nationals, especially Afghan refugees, were regularly denied entry into the sensitive Cantt area, causing inconvenience.
“To solve the problem, the police department decided to shift the section from Cantt to Gulbahar police station,” said the police officer.
