Alleged TTP member remanded till Dec 4

Courts remand alleged members of TTP, target killers to CID, Special Investigations Unit police custody.

KARACHI: The courts of district Malir and East remanded alleged members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and target killers to the custody of the Crime Investigation Department and Special Investigations Unit police on Wednesday.

The CID police produced four accused men — Muhammad Umar alias Sohrab, Barkatullah alias Zanjeer, Amanuddin alias Munnu and Ahsanullah alias Taxiwala — before Judicial Magistrate, Malir, Ashfaq Mughal for physical custody remand.

According to the remand papers, the accused are members of the TTP and were travelling in a taxi in Sohrab Goth when the CID conducted a raid on receiving a tip-off. They were arrested after an alleged police encounter and seized three suicide vests, two Kalashnikovs, one rifle, a TT pistol and a huge cache of explosives.

The men were planning to target offices of security agencies, according to the remand papers that sought physical custody of the men for interrogation.

The judicial magistrate remanded them to CID custody till December 4.

Target killers

Two alleged killers were remanded to the physical custody of the SIU police on Wednesday by the JMs of Karachi, East district. The police produced accused Sajjad alias Shahjee before JM Zakaullah Abro for his physical custody. The JM remanded the accused till December 4. JM Zabeeha Khattak also remanded accused Muhammad Yasin to physical custody of an SIU investigating officer till December 4. He was allegedly involved in the target killing of 11 people, including three activists of a Sindh nationalist party.
