The case was filed by Abdul Razzak Memon, the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional candidate for the constituency. Fahim won the seat with 95,724 votes in May 2013 in the constituency that has invariably given a large mandate to the Makhdoom family since the 1950s. However, Memon, who made history by securing 72,423 votes in the area, charged Fahim with bogus voting and holding the polling stations hostage. The judge, Ashraf Baloch, found his claims unsubstantiated and dismissed the case.
