KARACHI: On Day 2 of Lyari violence, a toddler was killed when the rickshaw she was in with her mother was hit by an awan bomb or grenade.

This flare-up comes at a time when key suspect, Uzair Baloch, is being extradited from Dubai. Thursday, March 5, is the hearing for his case in the UAE.
His men clashed with the rival Baba Ladla group in an attempt to take over more turf. A day earlier, six gangsters were injured.

"This is a turf war," said a resident. "The Ladla men are trying to occupy Uzair's area." He added that Baba Ladla's men were targeting Uzair’s and the neighbourhood was getting stuck in the middle.
The toddler, identified as resident Ghulam Qadir's daughter Rasheeda, lived with her parents off Maula Madad Road. Her mother, Gul Jabeen, 26, was injured in the attack. They were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi.

Also injured were: Humaira, 35, her four-year-old son, Ibrahim, Anwar, 35, Ibrahim, 40, Shahjahan, 33, Ayaz, 35, and Nabeel, 30.

Law enforcers surrounded the area and claimed to have picked up six suspects.

SHO Yasin Gujjar said that extra boots were on the ground and a case had been registered.

Sam | 9 years ago | Reply Good job PPP govt. you never resolve problems but create political puppets to manipulate later on. It's all about power and no attention is paid to loss of innocent lives.
SHN | 9 years ago | Reply This is getting absolutely absurd, the Army needs to step in and launch a full scale operation in Lyari, and clear it out once and for all then do so in other parts of Karachi also. Clearly civilian government and law enforcement agencies are not capable of the job.
