HYDERABAD: A mini operation theatre has been set up at Central Jail, Hyderabad, to provide emergency surgical care to the inmates.

Prisons DIG Muzaffar Alam Siddiqui inaugurated the theatre, established at the cost of Rs1.1 million, on Saturday. The jail already has a hospital but it provides only basic medical care. Before the setting up of this theatre, most of the prisoners who needed to be hospitalised had to be shifted to Civil hospital, located at a distance of half a kilometre from the jail.
