Muhammed Shoaib violated road rules as he broke a signal at Karim Block in Iqbal Town and was stopped by traffic warden Khurram.
When Khurram issued Shoaib a ticket and asked for his father’s name, Shoaib remained adamant that he had not committed any traffic violation, and refused to give his father’s name, prompting the warden to write "Shoaib son of Janwar" on the charge sheet.
Later that day, Shoaib and his friends protested outside Lahore Press Club, saying the police warden's behavior was deeply insulting.
Chief traffic officer Tayyab Hafeesz Cheema, taking notice of the incident, suspended Khurram and ordered SP Saddar division Nida Riaz Chattha to hold an inquiry into the matter and present a report within two days.
Quoting initial inquiry, Police official Ali Nawaz told The Express Tribune that in his clarification Khurram said that "when I asked Shoaib his father's name repeatedly, he asked me to write ‘janwar’. I simply wrote what he said."
