Raid gone wrong: Police team attacked in RYK

Officials said he had injured ASI Shaukat Ali with a knife.

Police said on Friday that dozens of people related to a man wanted for various offences had attacked a team in Abadpur area.


Officials said three policemen including an ASI had been injured in the attack. Police said they had also deprived the team’s members of a motorcycle, mobile phones and cash. Officials said the team had gone to nab Saifullah, an absconding suspect, after receiving a tip-off. Police said the suspect had attacked the team supported by dozens of baton-wielding relatives.  Officials said he had injured ASI Shaukat Ali with a knife. Police said two other policemen had been injured in the episode. Officials said the attackers had fled after the police team fired on them. Police said Saifullah had been injured in the exchange of fire. Officials said police had nabbed 28 people suspected of being involved in the attack. Police said the injured policemen had been taken to a hospital.
