KARACHI:
An anti-encroachment drive on Korangi Road turned violent on Friday after the protesters attacked the officials and personnel of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and set their official hi-roof van on fire. The police were summoned, who charged the protesters with batons. The latter retaliated by pelting stones. The Rangers also joined in and managed to disperse the protesters. Meanwhile, a case has been registered against over 100 protesters, including 18 members of the land mafia, at Korangi police station, said SHO Qalandar Buksh. The police have also placed a section of the anti-terrorism act in the FIR.
