Indian foreign secretary to visit Pakistan on March 3

His visit is likely to help resume the stalled peace process between the two countries

ISLAMABAD: Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar will visit Pakistan on March 3 for talks with his Pakistani counterpart, according to an official announcement by the foreign office here on Wednesday.

"Pursuant to the Prime Minister’s India call to the Prime Minister on 13 February, 2015, the Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar would visit Pakistan on 3-4 March, 2015. During his visit, Jaishankar would hold meeting with Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry," the statement said.

The visit of the Indian foreign secretary is likely to help resume the stalled peace process between the two countries.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday indicated that New Delhi is ready to discuss all issues including Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan.

JSM | 9 years ago | Reply @Bobb Mack: Indian FS may start talking to Baluchistan Liberation Front leaders Remember 1971, the most powerful country twisted India's arm ( sent 7th fleet to assist Pakistan) and your country (I assume you are a Pakistani) broke into two. WE wait and watch to see the results of the latest alleged arm twisting. Moderators- There is nothing malicious in what I have written- please publish it.

Bobb Mack | 9 years ago | Reply @JSM: Talks with the separatists have already taken place at the Pak high Commission India. What remained was the bilateral dialogue at FS level in Pakistan - after one cancellation by the Indians due to reasons best know to them it is now resheduled at the same venue albeit following some arm twisting. Therefore on this occasion repeat talks with the separatist along side the same dialogue episode is not necessary. Of course meetings with the separatists will continue in future as required. You Indians have difficulty thinking on right lines but eventually the reality will start sinking. What consequences Pakistan will face if they met the separatists again? You obviously are not in the right frame of mind.!!

All depends on your attitude. The sooner you change the better for you.

zara | 9 years ago | Reply As of talks with separatist you are telling me as if i am the pm. i dont remember reading in news nawaz sharif or foreign office mentioning that anywhere. and i think if they do they should make it public. pakistanis dont want to feel cheated by our governments like musharraf who goes on saying now he made talibans . He woke up after 8 years to share that.

JSM | 9 years ago | Reply @zara: When was last year- 2014? Let us watch now- will Pakistan consult Kashmiri separatists before talking to Indian FS? If they do, it may have interesting and far reaching repercussions for Pakistan.

The foreign office and nawaz sharif on intl leveL had raised voice on kashmir issue. Modi had arrongantly refused talks then, now he himself is sending his fs without being invited. Dont send nobody cares.

Last Word | 9 years ago | Reply Two things between two neighbours are pre-destined namely Pak defeat in all WC games and failure or derailing of talks each and everytime they took place. The first one has happened a few days back and the second one will meet the same fate come what may.

madhu | 9 years ago | Reply This is the right thing to happen- even if it was prompted by Obama Saheb. Indians and Pakistanis need the usa or china to goad us to talk. We should talk on all subjects , and behave like the matured Chinese and Taiwanese - who inspite of severe problems still manage to have very good trade ties. China-Taiwan trade ties are almost worth 150 billion dollars- I am sure pak india ties can rise to 20 billion dollars within a few years- you can imagine how many jobs will be created by such trade activites- how many millions of pakistanis and Indians will depend on such jobs , and depend on peace between india and Pakistan- Trade can cement relations between Pakistan and india - millions of Pakistanis can travel to india for trade and tourism and vice-versa- peace is what we should aim for- nothing can be achieved by war and hatred-
