ABBOTABAD:

The administration of Ayub Medical College is yet to act upon the directives of K-P health secretary and revoke the promotions and appointments made during December 2014.

Sources privy to the matter said the K-P health secretary issued a circular on February 16, 2015, suspending all appointments and promotions at the province’s semi-autonomous health institutions till further orders.

AMC Principal Dr Shahid Sultan allegedly violated rules of procedure and promoted ten associate professors and nine assistant professors along with two other officers without the approval of the board of governors.

Some of the teachers took the matter up with the government which ordered the Hazara commissioner to intervene. The commissioner then ordered Dr Sultan to seek the former’s approval prior. Before any progress could be made, the Health Reforms Act was enforced, rendering the board of governors dysfunctional. Dr Sultan, however, said the decisions were undertaken after the college selection board’s approval.
