However, the biggest factor of this night is the coveted 24-carat gold trophy.

Before, however, it was simply a bronze statuette which was gold plated.
This happened because there was a shortage of metal. However, after the war, the Academy replaced them with gold-plated statuettes.
Why? Because The LA Times broke the embargo and published all names of the winners – before the ceremony!

Marlon Brando was one of three people who have refused to accept the prestigious award.
Brando rejected the award for his stellar performance as Vito Corleone in The Godfather in protest against discrimination against Native Americans.
What happened then? A Native American activist, Sacheen Littlefeather, made a ‘refusal speech’ on behalf of the actor.
Only three movies have been able to achieve this: Ben Hur, Titanic, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
