No need to look ‘anywhere else’ for work except Pakistan: Urwa Hocane
The Na Maloom Afraad actress says her film did better than Bollywood films released here
LAHORE:
Urwa Hocane is flying high after the success of her debut movie. In an interview with Roznama Express, the actor from super hit film Na Maloom Afraad spoke about how artists don’t need to “travel internationally” in search of work if they are being offered quality projects in their own country.
“We should commend TV stars for venturing into the film industry and surprising the audiences with their craft,” she said. Hocane feels that films such as Waar and Main Hoon Shahid Afridi have lent impetus to the revival of the Pakistani films.
She said that working in Na Maloom Afraad made her realise acting on the silver screen is the ultimate aim of all actors. Prior to starring in the film, Hocane revelled in successes on television as a VJ and with her appearance in dramas, including Kahi Ankahi and Aik Pagal Si Larki.
Hocane, who made her feature-film debut opposite renowned actors such as Salman Shahid, Javed Sheikh and Fahad Mustafa, commented on the film’s success saying, “The movie has been appreciated more than any other Bollywood film released in Pakistan.” She said that Na Maloom Afraad has helped her gain ground in the entertainment industry. “People used to know me for my work on TV and as a model. I’ve become more famous after the release of Na Maloom Afraad.”
Hocane will next be seen depicting a major role in upcoming film ‘Malik’ opposite Humayun Saeed. The trailer for the movie, which is set to release later this year, has already been launched.
