KARACHI:

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) disowns former interior minister and party leader Zulfiqar Mirza after his recent outburst against the PPP leadership and co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari, said Sindh interior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

Addressing the press at the PPP media cell on Tuesday, Memon said that the accusations hurled by Mirza reflected his personal disagreements with the party. "On the one hand, he admits that whatever he is today, he owes it to PPP and Zardari but, on the other hand, he uses uncultured language against them," he claimed. "If he does not trust the party leadership then the party disowns him."

He said that the words Mirza used for MNA Faryal Talpur did not suit him or the traditions of Sindh, adding that Talpur had been working hard to keep the party united. He further informed the media that the PPP leadership would soon decide if any action was to be taken against Mirza.

Discussing the law and order situation, Memon said that both the federal and provincial governments were on the same page regarding rooting terrorism out of the country. He added that Zardari had recommended a selection board that could recruit good police officers from the Rangers and the Army.
